Update on Penn Highlands Healthcare - State College “Hospital of Tomorrow”

Updated: Apr 14, 2023

One of MCF’s larger healthcare projects to date, the new technologically-advanced Micro-Hospital and Outpatient Building for Penn Highlands Healthcare in State College of Centre County, PA, is well underway with construction. Design and project planning was off to a great start in the Fall of 2019. The project team includes local architecture partner, Core Architects LLC, engineering teams Hawbaker Engineering for Civil, McKim & Creed for MEP/FP & Structural, Kahler Slater for programming, Vision Builders Design for Kitchen Design Consulting, and Alexander Building Construction. At the beginning of January 2022, construction began with completion anticipated for Summer 2024.

Our MCF Project Team includes Tim Powers (Principal), Drew Lengyel (Project Manager), Sandra Wasik (Senior Interior Designer), Anastasia Johnson (Architectural Designer), Mike Linder (Specifications), and Paul Fisher (Healthcare Director), who have all dedicated a large portion of their time to ensure all design elements are well coordinated.

Recent visits to the construction site have proven the team’s hard work and accomplishments have met the healthcare system’s mission to build a state-of-the-art innovative healthcare facility. The facility will include full Emergency, Diagnostic Imaging and Lab, an efficient Surgical and Endoscopy Suite, 18 in-patient beds, Cancer Center, Pharmacy, Multi-specialty Clinics, a Cafè, and support departments. Total project area is 117,000 square feet.
